The major requires 36 graded credits; courses must be passed with a grade of C- or better. Credits used to fulfill the language requirement may not be applied to the 36-credit requirement.
- Language. Three years of college study or equivalent competency in languages of the region. The language requirement is ordinarily fulfilled through three years of one Slavic language (typically Russian), but students may petition to substitute one year of another Slavic language for one year of the first Slavic language. (Students with prior Russian language training should contact Russian language coordinator Yelaina Kripkov at firstname.lastname@example.org for placement.)
- Field of concentration. 20 credits or five 4-credit, upper-division courses in one of the two concentrations listed below. Four of these courses must be upper division. In addition, two of these four courses must be at the 400 level.
- Electives. 16 credits or four 4-credit courses in REEES electives. At least two of these four courses should be outside the field of concentration.
- Transfer Credits. 16 credits or 4-credit courses taken outside of the UO may be applied to the major. No more than two of these 4-credit courses may be counted toward the field of concentration.
