The REEES major and minor are inherently interdisciplinary and pair well with a number of other majors and minors at the UO. Popular second majors and minors for our students include Comparative Literature, History, International Studies, Journalism, Linguistics, and Political Science, but the possibilities are endless. Below you’ll find the requirements for the REEES major and minor, which enable you to pursue a humanities or social science emphasis and allow for a great deal of flexibility in your selection of courses.
Major Requirements
The major requires 36 graded credits; courses must be passed with a grade of C- or better. Credits used to fulfill the language requirement may not be applied to the 36-credit requirement.
Language: Three years of college study or equivalent competency in languages of the region. The language requirement is ordinarily fulfilled through three years of one Slavic language (typically Russian), but students may petition to substitute one year of another Slavic language for one year of the first Slavic language.
